26a - Celebrating Failure

-       A time I failed this past semester was during the first couple weeks of January, I had overextended myself with the responsibilities and organizations I was a part of. Coming into college they’re so many awesome opportunities out there that I wanted to be involved with everything that I could, but I learned you cannot do that effectively without spreading yourself to thin.
-       I learned that it is more important get involved in a few things, but dive 100% into them as best as you can, rather than spread yourself and your time out between 5-6 organizations.
-       Failure to me is when one door closes, but another one opens up if you’re willing to look for it. Everyone deals with failure differently, and in order to be successful in this world you have to be able to adapt to failure on the fly – because it occurs often. I handle failure but knowing that what I did in that moment didn’t work, but there is a way around or through that issue. This class has not really changed my perspective on failure.

  1. Evan,
This was a really good post. I really like your take on failure and how your willingness to look for a new opportunity makes failure worth it. Your view on failure is rather unique because many people view failure as something horrible and a symbol of something ending. Your view on failure is not only a healthier view but also allows for people to move on from their failure and not get hung up on it. I believe that if more people viewed failure like you do then a lot would be different in the world.

  2. Hey Evan,
I really enjoyed your post. It was very relatable to many situations. I feel that this happen to a lot of students when they come to college. There are many new experiences and they are hard to turn down. I think it is very important to grow from this failure to make better decisions in the future.

  3. Hey Evan!
Great job on this week’s blog post. I can honestly say that I have definitely put myself in positions where I have overextended myself. Putting a serious amount of work on your plate can definitely increase the amount of stress that your body endures. I also really enjoyed reading about your perspective of what failure is, and I can also agree that failure allows one door to close and another door to open. Overall, great job on this assignment!

  4. Hi Evan,
I really enjoyed reading your post about failure. Being too ambitious and overextending yourself can backfire on people sometimes. I am glad that you were able to learn to give 100% in certain organizations. That way you can get the most out of it. I also love your take on failure saying that it opens new doors that is a very optimistic and motivational way of thinking.
