19a: Idea Napkin No.2

1)    My name is Evan Savage, first year Economics & Marketing Major. My talents include investing my passions into my daily responsibilities and relating to people on personal levels. My skills and experiences come from past work responsibilities and positions I hold in orgs at UF. My aspirations include graduating from UF and opening my own restaurant. I want to open my first restaurant with my Father, and co-owning it with him.
2)    The product I’m offering to my customers is a locally owned, homey-ambience brunch place that is very close to campus. This is an unmet need because other than Waffle House there isn’t a place that’s very close offering what I’m offering.
3)    The customers I’m offering to are UF students, from first years to eighth years. And also other Gainesville community members.
4)    Customers will see the benefit from my idea because the ability to offer great quality food, at a reasonable price, and also the homey-ambience.
5)    What sets me apart from other breakfast places, is my operation will not have a fast food ambience and come off as dirty. I want to make this place where students like to go and study, get coffee, grab food other than pastries, etc.

I believe most of these elements fit together nicely, and for a successful operation to run – all of these 5 points will need to be looked at and accounted for. Also, further emphasizing, I don’t think that these points are out-of-joint with one another, or weaker than the previous point.
The feedback I received that I took into account was first, have I specifically thought about location wise for this restaurant idea yet. For example, North vs South Campus, etc. And the second feedback I received was would I myself manage the restaurant or would I have another set of managers do this for myself.

  1. Hey Evan,

Great job with this assignment. This really cleared up the questions I had with your idea on your restaurant. I think it’s a really good idea to have it here in Gainesville because this place does not really have anything like it. I agree with you that the elements of your opportunity all fit together nicely, and you really understand the customer segment that you will be serving. Good job.

  2. Hi Evan,
Great job on your idea napkin. I really like your business idea and I think it would be very useful in Gainesville. Since there are not a lot of brunch areas that are nearby campus, I think your restaurant would get a lot of new and eager customers. Thinking about the location of your restaurant is important because it could be a deciding factor in how many people come to your restaurant and how often they come.
