ENT3003: 3a Your Entrepreneurial Story

For the last two years of my life I have worked for a General Contractor who owns his own contracting
business, and also uses his 30 acre property as an outdoor wedding venue in North Carolina. My
experience working for Mr. Kolarov and his wife who runs the logistics for the wedding venue, has been
an awesome involvement in getting my feet wet in the entrepreneurship field. I’ve learned the rewards to
owning your own company and being the boss of yourself -- like the ability to make your own hours, and
having many of your company's successes falling on your shoulders. But during my tenure, I also
learned how tough being a entrepreneur can be; for example the headaches that can come about when
things go wrong in the chain of command. I’ve truly enjoyed working these past two years, and am
thankful for the knowledge I’ve attained throughout the process.

I enrolled in ENT3003 because I plan to complete at least a minor in entrepreneurship if not the
combined Master’s Degree in the Science of Entrepreneurship. At this point in my life I plan to dive into
commercial real estate while owning my own contracting business. ENT3003 I’m hoping can lay the
groundwork for my entrepreneurial mind and help me get my career path initiated.

  1. Hey Evan! I think its great that you have been able to get an insight on entrepreneurship. I can also relate to this because my parents started their own small business and I was able to see the insight of having your own hours, flexibility, but also a lot of hard work and extra time. I think that being an entrepreneur takes a lot of work.

  2. Hey Evan,

Really cool story about the wedding venue outside of their house! I’m glad and jealous that you have had in person contact with successful entrepreneurs! It must be a really cool experience for you if you want to one day be in their shoes running it all by yourself. I totally agree with all the positive and negative things that come from being your own boss! Great job over all!
